3 Ways Tree Removal Professionals Handle Large Trees
June 6, 2024

Trees are great for providing shade and making your property more beautiful. Trees sometimes require removal due to storm damage, disease, or the effects of aging. The taller the tree, the heavier and more complicated it is to remove it without causing property damage or injuring someone. If you have a large tree to remove from your property, it’s best to hire an experienced service to do it. Here are three ways that our professionals take care of large tree removal situations.

1. Climb the Tree to Remove Branches

Climbing a tree requires a lot of experience and a safety harness to do it safely and effectively, which is why it’s best to have professionals take care of it. According to Bob Vila, a tree removal service that requires tree climbing could raise the service cost by between 25 to 50%. The higher price is due to the greater risk taken and the additional work needed to safely remove a large tree by climbing to the top to gradually remove it. However, this is the method many tree removal services prefer.

2. Rent a Crane and Bucket to Reach the Top

A slightly quicker way to take down a large tree is to rent a crane and bucket to raise one or more workers high up to gradually cut off branches and the top of the tree. The bucket makes it harder to get in close to the trunk when cutting the branches, but it won’t require a specialist to climb the tree and work with a harness. Using a crane and bucket is safer for workers.

3. Lower Cut Pieces With a Rope

Whether your professional is climbing the tree or using a crane and bucket, all cut pieces need to be lowered to the ground instead of letting them fall. Workers attach ropes to the pieces being cut and slowly and safely lower them to the ground after they are cut. When enough branches are gone, the workers can place a rope around the top of the tree and lower it after another worker cuts off the top. The ropes protect workers and any nearby property from falling branches and sections of the tree trunk.
